A note from Tess and Theo
"When the light turns warm, the room slows down, and the night belongs to you."

That's the moment we design for. We kept noticing how rarely it actually happened. Homes that didn't quite match the people living in them. Everybody's different, every home should show it. So we started Dennis. Two designers, one kitchen table.

For Tess, material is a language. Palette, finish, texture, how a surface holds light at 6pm on a Tuesday. For Theo, design runs on embodied symbols. Form, structure, how an object sets the emotional temperature of a room before you've walked in.

Every Original carries the same DNA: electric blue woven cable, red DDI branding, a weighted base that stays where you put it, and a warm anti-flicker globe as standard.

We chose Australia.

We've shipped to homes in the US and the UK, and we've stepped back from both, deliberately, to focus only here. A studio in Melbourne, designing for Australian homes, available everywhere in Australia and nowhere else.

We'd rather build the brand here properly than thin it across markets that don't quite know the references.

Tess runs colour, finish, and surface across the studio - the way a Dennis object holds light, sits in your hand, lives in a room. RMIT and VCA, then years in merchandising, ecommerce, and costume/production design before starting Dennis.

Theo Maddigan

Co-founder, Dennis Did It

Theo runs form, structure, and how an object sets the emotional temperature of a room. Swinburne interior architecture (1st class hons.), then going on a decade with some of Australia's best designers and makers before starting Dennis.
